F Labor Unions
This is a strike against John D. Rokerfeller and his oil refinery
Dear Editor,
I am writing this letter to you to inform you about my thoughts on Labor Unions. To me, I feel as if we shouldn't even have those. You may call me crazy but I am completely against them. I personally feel that we'd be better off without it. However my reasonings for this is because with Labor Unions there are a lot of people working in one place. Yes it may have positives but over all I feel as if the more people we have in that area the less motivation there will be. When I say this i mean there will be less people working, doing what they should be doing and then the rest find it as, "Oh well there's plenty of people here, I don't see why it'd be bad to just sit back". Therefore there will be more people to slack off. Then what happens? The company will most likely be paying people for doing jobs that they aren't even completely and maybe even end up firing the ones that are doing their jobs for the wrong reasons or no reasons what so ever. There is not always going to be someone baby sitting a person. Nor will there always be someone there to check to see if everything is done correctly. So is the company basically just using them to take more money from them that way the company itself does not have to spend much money? Or are they honestly serious as they claim to be? Those are questions that may be raised within time. So again why do the hard workers have to do more work than usual because the slugs don't want to participate? I stand up for those who work. And this is why I feel that Labor Unions should be non existent. Thank you for taking the time out to read my letter.
- Sincerely,
Maria Hernandez

Lets go Labor
this is the Farm Labor Union when women asked for more pay and better working conditions
Union working formed when during the Industrial Revolution, some Business Owners were taking advantage of workers, with low wages, long hours and unsafe working conditions. When workers were concerned about this that's when unions were formed. Unions were formed to provide workers with a voice, and a say so In there safety. The union set up specific laws that business men and owners had to obey or would suffer consequences for. This allowed workers to share there voice about how unsafe, unfair and unstable environments around them were. This is when benefits started to come into play. Workers were able to have time off, sick pay, and even start a retirement plan. During this time many workers were laid off or had there pay cut down because they would be replaced with hard machinery. After machinery came into the works many owners wanted fit workers who were there for specific things. Later on women and small children began to work in factories. They would hirer them because there bodies are small making them fit into tight spaces to fix machinery. Women would be hired because there easier to manage. They also don't have as many rights and could get paid less then men and still do the same job as them.
